I would like to start off saying that I have an undying love for this artist. Yes, Vance Joy (real name James Keogh) is one of my absolute favorite acts in the whole wide world. The Australian singer-songwriter sings indie folk and alternative music and was born in Melbourne. His debut EP, God Loves You When You’re Dancing, was released on March 22nd, 2013, and on January 21st, 2013 his debut single “From Afar” came out. Then, in September 2014, Dream Your Life Away, Vance Joy’s debut album, was released. Meanwhile, his song “Riptide” catapulted onto the charts. It was voted number 1 on the 2013 Triple J Hottest 100, number 12 on ARIA’s year end chart for 2013, and number 35 in the UK, where the song is also A-Listed on BBC Radio One. BBC Radio One presenter Fearne Cotton announced that it was her ‘song of the year’ for 2013. Joy told Billboard, “It's awesome to have your song getting around the world. Songs can feel like gifts sometimes because they kind of come about without you knowing exactly how it happened - so I am grateful for the doors this one has opened for me”.
