This song sends me into rock euphoria. “Miss Jackson” by Panic! At The Disco featuring LOLO makes me jam like never before, so I’ve chosen it as the Song of the Week. This song is anthemic, and a little bit twisted. The first time I heard this song, if felt like so raw and angry that I immediately downloaded it. “Out the back door, godd*mn but I love her anyway!” These lyrics refer to how the narrator is in love with an intangible woman, who always seems to elude him. In fact, lead singer Brendon Urie revealed in an interview with MTV that this song is based off of his experiences, which only adds to its honesty. "When I was younger, I would mess around; I'd sleep with one girl one night, sleep with her friend the next night, and not care about how they felt, or how I made them feel. And then it happened to me and I realized 'Wow, that's what that feels like? I feel really sh---y. I knew I had to change, because I didn't want to feel that way again, or make other people feel that way, so I wrote the song. It's based off someone who is real, though I don't think they would know it. They might suspect it, and if they figure it out, I'd love to talk to them about it." Furthermore, this song also refers to “Nasty” by Janet Jackson. Urie chants, “Miss Jackson, are you nasty?” during the song’s chorus. Meanwhile, “Nasty” is famous for its iconic line, “My first name ain’t baby, it’s Janet - Miss Jackson if you’re nasty”. Overall, “Miss Jackson” by Panic! At The Disco is a raw, honest song that I’m sure you’ll love.
