This is one of those songs you never get tired of. Seriously, every time you hear this song it only gets better. So, I announce Skinny Love by Bon Iver the Song of the Week. The meaning of this song is so beautiful, and so delicate. Many people theorize that this song is about anorexia, because of the word “skinny”. However, Bon Iver put this theory to rest with the quote, "It’s about that time in a relationship that I was going through; you’re in a relationship because you need help, but that’s not necessarily why you should be in a relationship. And that’s skinny. It doesn’t have weight. Skinny love doesn’t have a chance because it’s not nourished.” (I cannot find the source of this quote; it is not from an interview with me.) Henceforth, Skinny Love is about a love between two people that is deteriorating, or “skinny”. Then, we find out that the narrator blames the girl for “wasting their love” , and we can infer that they tried to work it out at one point, because he told her to be “patient, fine, balanced, and kind” and they “suckled on the hope”, but in the end it didn’t work out, because he’s “breaking at the britches”. All in all, this song is so very beautiful, and I know every one of you will love it.
